(Reviewer’s note: No, I’m not a bot reposting this exact same review to a different item. We’ve now bought three of these non-Lego train sets and my review is the same. Look forward to buying a fourth.)My 6 y/o nephew LOVES trains. And he LOVES Lego. But there’s no way in any sane mind can I buy him a $200 Lego train set. Worse, once they’re retired, they triple and quadruple in price, relegating them to NIB, left unopened on the shelf “investments” that he can’t afford to play with (I’m looking at you, Emerald Night and Maersk Freight trains!).These “cheap, knock-off” Chinese sets (news flash: even the ridiculously overpriced Lego is not made in America) fit the bill just right. This is the second set we’ve bought and built. No fancy box to lament tearing open or creasing. The instructions are clear and printed on par with Lego brand sets. The blocks themselves are indistinguishable in color and quality save for the tiny Lego name missing atop the block studs. And so far, none have been incomplete!All this amounts to a finished toy model your child can actually afford to play with and not just stare at as it idly sits up on a shelf.
