Not surprised to see 5/5 on reviews, and I did NOT receive a free copy (I hate those reviews because they are BIASED:). Anyway, this is a great book to answer those prevailing 2016/2017 questions-how do I respond when I hear biased comments or I am confronted with bias? The book takes you through an easy to read set up of what bias is, with real examples, and includes exercises like the Harvard Implicit Theories test link. After setting the base for understanding what bias is and where it comes from and how we truly are ALL a little biased, Jana and Freeman again provide real stories of how to deal, professionally and from a well-read viewpoint, with biased situations, comments, etc. It is a GREAT book for educating those who do not understand bias, those who want to know how to deal with bias, and those who want to feel comfortable when engaging in uncomfortable, biased situations. I will be using the book at the undergrad and graduate levels for Leadership and Social Justice classes, and it is the first book I am assigning as I feel it sets up the students with the foundation they need to tackle the tough topics we will study, and to handle the situations they encounter when they spend the second half of the semester changing the world. Perfect book at the perfect time. Kudos to the authors!
